Veronica McKissack is a Clinical Social Worker at the Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital.  She has more than 13 years of experience working in the fields of Education, Child Welfare, Non-Profit and Mental Health services in Kalamazoo County. 

Veronica states, “My work as a member of the Kalamazoo County Equity Task-force since 2017 has allowed me to partner with public service agencies to promote education surrounding trauma, specifically adverse childhood experiences. I am a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and have served as a bus driver in the Transportation Ministry for 20 years. As a board member of the Mothers of Hope, I’ve supported events that empower families while advocating for marginalized populations…… I will be a catalyst to bringing comprehensive strategies to the Commission by working with other elected officials to advance the interest of all county citizens…. I am standing for a transparent, equitable and inclusive Kalamazoo County! I am humbled by the support my campaign has received and excited to be moving forward as the Democratic candidate for the Kalamazoo County Commission District 5. I am looking forward to serving the community by diversifying decision making while promoting equity through policy. “
