2020 KCDP endorsee – ABIGAIL WHEELER

Michigan House of Representatives – District 66

2020 KCDP endorsee – Abigail Wheeler

Abigail Wheeler is a third generation Mattawan native. Wheeler became a firefighter and licensed EMT in 2017. She is employed by the Texas Township Fire Department and is also a volunteer firefighter for Mattawan. Through her experience as an EMT/Firefighter and a local representative, she has seen the troubles that plague her community, including a lack of governmental transparency, a need to improve the educational system, and care for Michigan’s greatest resource: it’s water.

Abby has been a member of the Mattawan Village Council since 2018. She chairs the Communications Committee and serves on the Finance and Policy & Personnel Committees.

She pledges to work toward meeting the priority needs that she sees for our community.

Lowering Prescription Drug Costs: “Prescription drug prices are skyrocketing, forcing Michiganders to choose between putting food on the table or filling a prescription. We need to lift the burden off working families by lowering the costs of prescription drugs.”

Protecting Our Water: “For too long the safety of our water has been taken for granted.  The working families of Michigan shouldn’t have to question whether the water coming out of the tap is safe for their families to drink.”

Transparency and Accountability: “Michigan ranks as the worst in the nation in regards to government accountability and transparency.  The people of Southwest Michigan deserve a representative who works for them and not for wealthy corporate backers.”

The Kalamazoo County Democratic Party is pleased to endorse Abby for State Representative from the 66th District.
