2020 KCDP endorsee – GLORIA EMMONS

Comstock Township Trustee

I came to Kalamazoo in 1971 and moved to Comstock Township in 1973.  After getting married I moved to Lansing to attend Michigan State University.  I came back to Kalamazoo to work on my Masters degree at Western Michigan University. I served as a Democratic National Convention delegate twice.  I have worked with state Representatives Mary Brown,  Ed LaForge, and Alexander “Sandy” Lipsey.   I also hosted the Public Access  program, ”People and Politics.” My main reason for running for a seat as a Trustee of Comstock Township is that there are no civil defense sirens in the township.  When I asked why, the current board told me that everyone has a cell phone now and sirens are not needed.  This seems somewhat callous and short-sighted to me.
