FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. On October 19, 2017 the Kalamazoo County Democratic Party (KCDP) voted to endorse Bobby Hopewell in the Kalamazoo City Mayor’s Race. Hopewell is seeking reelection for Mayor and has served in this office since 2007.
At a meeting in September, Mayor Hopewell shared with party members his passion for the City of Kalamazoo, particularly the Imagine Kalamazoo visioning process and development of the Foundation for Excellence. His remarks and answers to questions allowed members to gain more in-depth insight on how this initiative will help continue the work of addressing various aspirational goals such as ending generational poverty, creating opportunity for youth while also stabilizing the city’s budgetary needs. Overall, the Party supports Mayor Hopewell’s leadership in the city of Kalamazoo and is confident in his ability to continue great work.
Hopewell also expressed his support for Candidates Erin Knott and Eric Cunningham who are seeking reelection and election onto the Kalamazoo City Commission, respectively. Mayor Hopewell indicated that he needs people like Knott and Cunningham on the Commission to help continue the work finding solutions that best serve the people in the City of Kalamazoo.
As we gear up for the November 7th election less than one week away, we want to show our support for these candidates. The KCDP will be helping with “Get Out the Vote” efforts starting today through Election Day. If you are interested in volunteering, simply email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 269-342-4217.
