Upton pro-Trumpcare response letter filled with falsehoods
…
Some of the nonsense in just the small portion of Upton’s letter above:
- Under Trumpcare 24 million people could lose their health coverage which calls into question what Upton means by “access”
- Trumpcare denies unrestricted coverage of people with existing “illnesses” (a word designed to replace “conditions” or, in other words, pregnancy)
- Trumpcare would eviscerate the ACA, It does not attempt build on it.
- There’s no such thing as a reasonable transition from coverage to no coverage. No coverage is what millions of people would receive from Trumpcare.
- Congress has made clear that Trumpcare will not apply to them.
In his response letter, excerpted above, Upton justified his support of Trumpcare (ACHA) with the statement: “I also included a copy of the May 11 Wall Street Journal Editorial referencing the pullout of Aetna and Humana from the individual markets in a number of states and confirmation of high double digit premium increases with the current system…that clearly needs to be fixed.”
In fact, it is well known that the notion that Aetna and Humana pulling out of the ACA due to anything other than greed is bogus:
Here is a partial list of reputable organizations who oppose Trumpcare (the AHCA):
- The AARP
- American Hospital Association
- Federation of American Hospitals
- America’s Essential Hospitals
- Families USA
- The American Medical Association
- American Nurses Association
- American College of Physicians
- National Nurses United
- National Physicians Alliance
- Association of American Physicians and Surgeons
- American Academy of Pediatrics
