Gary L. Gillette
Born and raised in Owosso, Michigan, 59 year old Gary Gillette has lived in Comstock Township for the past 23 years. He graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Dairy Science with honors in l974. He then went on to Veterinary School at MSU and graduated as a DVM in l977 – again with honors.
Gary is a licensed Vet in Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia and Missouri as well as Michigan. He practiced full-time after college, then spent 26 years working in the pharmaceutical industry, and has continued to practice as time allows. His professional work at Schering Plough, Upjohn and Pfizer was in clinical development and technical service, including 13 years in the international arena. He retired 5 years ago.
Gary says he is running for office to halt fiscal irresponsibility in Comstock government. As an example, he sites the April 14th issue of the Hometown Gazette which detailed the purchase of a non-buildable site for a new fire station and having to spend much more money to fill the site to make it ready for a building. He wants to make the interests of taxpayers as his first priority, to operate Comstock Township like a successful business and to eliminate the frequently heard quip that “Comstock Township is the biggest joke in Kalamazoo County”.
