The process for electing a Democrat U.S. Representative from District 6

People are asking “Who are we going to elect to replace Upton?”

This is a great question. Michigan’s Sixth congressional district is a United States congressional district in southwest Michigan. It consists of all of Berrien, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, and Van Buren, counties, and includes most of Allegan county.

There are currently six Democratic candidates who have expressed interest in running for Congress in the Sixth. There is still time for other candidates to come forward. The Michigan Democratic Party Sixth District Committee will be interviewing the candidates, and we anticipate that there may be several candidate forums open to members of the public to hear and ask questions of the candidates. These will be publicized here when they are arranged. The District Committee may play a role in a discernment process of agreeing on the strongest candidate, however any candidate is free to gather nominating petition signatures and run in the August 2018 Primary.

Anyone with questions concerning the Democratic race in the Sixth District can contact Mark Miller, MDP Sixth District Chair, at 269-903-8704.

There are many ways that an individual can participate in this process. One thing that you can do right now is donate to the KCDP so that we can be ready to get the Democratic candidate elected and stop the damage that Upton has been doing for far too long.
